Drew McIntyre & Eric Escobar def. Matt Hardy & R-Truth
Though McIntyre and Escobar are relatively
new to the SmackDown roster, the two young Superstars proved why they deserve to
be on the Friday night team heading into this Sunday by defeating two notable
opponents in Matt Hardy & R-Truth. Despite Hardy & Truth giving it their all, it
was a distraction by Vickie Guerrero and a cheap shot by Escobar that made the
difference, allowing McIntyre to hit a Double-Arm DDT on Matt and pick up the
pin to earn his team the victory.

This Week's Featured Match: Matt Hardy vs. Christian vs.
Eddie Guerrero
This match took place at Backlash, on May 29th 2001. It was
triple-threat match for the European Championship, which Matt had acquired mere
days before. Matt, sans Lita and Jeff, got a chance to show-case his athleticism
in this bout. All three competitors were impressive. Towards the end, Edge gets
involved and Matt almost loses the title, but of course, Jeff rushes to the ring
to even the score. With his help, Matt was able to retain the European
Championship.

Eric Escobar def. Matt Hardy in a WWE Bragging Rights
Qualification Match
In his SmackDown debut, Vickie Guerrero’s boyfriend,
Eric Escobar, stunned both Matt Hardy and the WWE Universe by picking up the
“W.” Distracted by a screaming Vickie at ringside, Matt was driven into the
steel ring post by Escobar. Reeling from the collision, Hardy was easy prey for
Escobar to cover for the pinfall.

Possible Reason Behind The Raid Of Jeff's Home
NOTE: Keep in mind that this is just a rumor and that nothing has been
confirmed. I'm only posting this because I feel like it is a reasonable
explanation.
The story
making the rounds in the WWE locker room regarding Jeff Hardy's explanation for
his legal troubles is that he was arrested when police conducted a raid after a
package was sent to his home that had been flagged before it was delivered.
Apparently, Hardy brought the package inside and police officials were on the
scene to conduct the raid.
The story goes that Hardy did not know what the package contained
and that it was sent to him by someone from outside North Carolina who had
expressed interest in doing business with him.
Jeff is
said to be in much better spirits at this point than he was after he was
initially arrested. He has told friends that he hired a top notch attorney.
Hardy went from asking friends to pray for him because he feared jail time to
believing that he could face minimal punishment.

This Week's Featured Match: Jeff Hardy (w/ Matt &
Terri) vs. Al Snow in a Steel Cage
This match took place on January 3,
2000. Jeff faced off against the deranged Al Snow inside an unforgiving
steel cage. Before the match officially began, Snow attacked both Hardys
and then grabbed Terri and locked her in the cage along with himself and Jeff.
She was forced to watch as Jeff was brutalized for the majority of the match.
Matt made an attempt to climb the cage, but Snow smashed his fingers with a
steel chair. In the end, however, it would be Snow's inadvertent
assistance, via a little Poetry in Motion, that would allow Jeff to scale the
cage and get out, which left a helpless Terri still trapped inside. Bitter
from his loss, Snow set his sights on her. The cage door was finally
unlocked and Matt was able to make the save before any harm could come to her.

Kimo Teases About Jeff's New Do
Yesterday, Matt had tweeted saying that Jeff had cut his
hair and dyed it. Well, today, Kimo posted a teasing picture about Jeff's
new look, but nothing was really revealed. It appears that Hardy had cut
those long locks of his. I also couldn't help noticing that he's sporting
what looks to be a new tattoo as well as a ring. Maybe Beth and Jeff have
tied the knot? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Steve Austin Talks About Jeff
Hardy's Situation
During an interview with the UK Sun this week to promote
his new movie Damage, WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin says he?s spoken to former
WWE superstar Jeff Hardy about his ongoing issues, but you can only do so much
to help another person.
?I called him a while back and talked to him,? he said.
?He?s a good looking kid, he?s got a really unique style, people love him, he
has his own kind of charisma. I wish he could put it all together and get his
personal demons behind him. He got caught with a lot of stuff and we?ll see what
happens.?
Austin said he?s reached out to other WWE superstars when
he they were having issues with drug addiction.
?I?ve called a few guys when I hear some of them getting
into problems,? he said. ?I try to give my two cents to the situation. They?ll
all swear that everything is cool, it turns out things aren?t cool. [Vince
McMahon] has offered to pay for rehab for anybody who wants it. Some people have
taken him up on it, some people haven?t. I get made when people point the finger
at Vince and say it?s his fault. It?s not his fault. He?s a third generation
promoter who runs a wrestling company. I take responsibility for all my actions.
I think everybody should. I refuse to think that it?s Vince McMahon?s fault for
any of this.?
He said Jeff Hardy has a unique situation for WWE. One hand
hand, he?s one of the most charismatic and popular superstars on the roster, but
there?s such a risk of him screwing up that they?ve never been able to fully get
behind him.
?Man. This last thing I just heard about the other day when
I was driving back from Texas to L.A.,? he said. ?They never gave that guy a
full green light push, but you can?t keep him down. All the calamity and trouble
he gets into, but people love him. If they ever fully gave him a green light
push, who knows what would happen? But you can?t do that because you don?t know
what he?s going to do because all of a sudden you have all of this time and
money invested and then he screws up. So who knows what?s going to come out of
it, if he?s going to do time or whatever. He has some serious stuff going
against him.?
